Beta terms and privacy notice
Version of 19 October 2026 (rev. 4)
1. What the beta is
The Helix Tone Matcher beta is a free, invitation-only trial with limited places of an experimental program that tries guitar sounds inside Helix Stadium Native and tries to bring them close to a song. By using it you help us understand what works and what doesn't. Taking part is not compulsory and you can stop whenever you want.
2. Who processes the data
Layer3 S.r.l. (data controller). Contact for any request: [email protected].
3. What you entrust to us
To take part: name, email, password (kept only as a hash), language. When you use the program: the song or link you give, the audio we download from it and the separated guitar, the clean recording of your guitar (DI), the information you write (song name, part to imitate, guitar, notes), sound measurements, the presets produced, your ratings and comments. If you use your own computer: version of the agent and the plugin, computer name, operating system, processor, RAM, graphics card and its memory, audio interface, disk space, and the processing times of the tasks. We do not collect serial numbers, network addresses, lists of programs or personal files. The technical data on processing times (no name, email or songs) is kept in anonymous form even after your data is deleted.
4. What it is used for, and what not
It is used to run your job, give you the result and improve the program (in particular to tune the measure we use to compare sounds and to understand how to make processing faster on different computers). The basis is your consent (Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR), which you give by accepting these terms. We do not use it for advertising, we do not sell or pass it on, we do not publish or share the songs and recordings and we never put them on the public site.
5. Who sees it and where it is kept
The files are kept on a server run by Layer3, separate from the public site, and only the people who run the beta see them. Service emails are sent through the site's mail. The site is served through Cloudflare, which processes visitors' IP addresses to deliver the pages and protect the service.
6. For how long, and how to delete it
We keep your data and files for up to 12 months after you last used the beta, then we delete them. You can delete a job, or everything (account, files and database rows), at any time with the "Delete my data" button in the tester area; or by writing to us. Deletion really removes the files and the rows.
7. Your rights
You can ask for access, rectification, erasure, restriction of or objection to processing, and withdraw your consent at any time, by writing to [email protected]. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with the data protection authority (in Italy, the Garante per la protezione dei dati personali).
8. Songs and copyright
Upload only songs you have the right to use or that you use for personal purposes. If you give a YouTube link, we download the audio to process it, only for your job: you are responsible for being allowed to use it. The songs are not published or shared. If you hold the rights and want a file removed, write to [email protected]: we remove it immediately.
If you do not have a clean recording of your guitar, the program picks a reference one from an internal library to build the preset. The library contains recordings by Layer3 and from the Guitar-TECHS dataset (Hegel Pedroza, Wallace Abreu, Ryan M. Corey, Iran R. Roman, ICASSP 2025, CC BY 4.0 licence, zenodo.org/records/14963133), trimmed and level-adjusted. They stay on our server and are not given to testers; the dataset authors do not endorse this service.
9. The agent on your computer
Those who take part with their own computer install a small program (the agent). The agent runs only tasks from a closed list (play your guitar through Helix Stadium Native and measure the result, measure a song, download audio from a YouTube link, separate the guitar from a song), does not run commands, does not run code received from the server, writes only in its own folder and downloads only files from the server. The only exception is the official updates of the program: the new installer is downloaded only from the beta server and is installed only if it carries Layer3's digital signature and the right fingerprint (even if someone took control of the server they could not make you install anything else). You can refuse updates from the icon menu. A second case is the optional components: if the computer has a suitable NVIDIA graphics card, the program downloads by itself the component needed to separate the guitar from whole songs (about 4 GB). It downloads it from the official sites (python.org, PyTorch, PyPI) and not from Layer3, so it does not load our server: every file is checked against the fingerprint listed in a list signed by Layer3 and, if it does not match, it is discarded; no third-party installer is run. You can refuse this download from the icon menu. It connects to the Internet to ask for tasks and send back results; it opens no ports on your computer.
10. Helix Stadium Native
The agent uses your Helix Stadium Native plugin with your licence, on your computer. The licence remains yours and Line 6 / Yamaha's conditions remain valid: you are responsible for checking that you can use it this way. Helix Tone Matcher is an independent Layer3 project and is not affiliated with Line 6 or Yamaha.
11. Experimental presets, no warranty
The presets produced are experimental: back up your pedalboard or your presets before loading them. The program gets close to the sound according to a measure and does not guarantee an identical result. The beta is provided "as is", without warranties.
12. End of the beta and changes
We may suspend or close the beta or a tester's access. If we change these terms in an important way we will tell you and ask you to accept them again. If the beta ends, we delete the data according to point 6.
